This is a layman's perspective.There is no science or details for the detailed / skeptical mind.But there is something for those who give intuition and inner self a chance .
Astrology is vast but definite science.Its roots dig deep into the most ancients of times. It is still a mystery how our ancients which started civilization as we know it today came in possession of vast Astronomical knowledge. In fact it was one of the most important aspects of society then to my knowledge and understanding of these ancients. I have often come across the idea that astrology or predicting ones psyche and its behavior , tendencies over the course of its life time from birth is just a by product of astrology. If so the case what it was meant for haven't been uncovered by me yet but the answers are for sure out there for the curious ones.
Astrology makes use of planetary position , constellations visible in the sky etc at the time of birth of the person. A chart is drawn up showing the different astronomical values and these values are used to suggest the psyche of a person.How these values which being planetary positions , constellations they are over , geometric patterns established by different planets and further divisions and sub divisions effect the psyche is more metaphysical which logical science that we are accustomed need to discover in time it. By planets they just mean heavenly bodies which includes sun and the moon.
If we were to observe the influence of an entity on another it might seem to give an answer. Like how a cell changes its function according to its surroundings. If we were to introduce the idea that the cell adopted change because its conscious was effected by its surroundings rather than a physical , chemical aspect then most problems is solved. Consciousness is clearly a force which can effect particles as modern day quantum physics strongly stands by.The ancients sat down and observed the effects of astronomical events on human beings for a long , long time and produced its relation with the human conscious. I don't see it anything less than an experiment. There is very less mysticism here.
There are many astrological systems and the one that I know to be capable to the extend that the system is able to explain why Twins behavior can be different is Vedic Astrology. But we have lost many of its in dept knowledge to Time and Language.
Astrology is a vast , thought provoking , intuitive subject which takes a long long time to reach perfection. It gives a certain sense of uneasiness to many as it tends to come in direct conflict with the idea of free will. But mastery of the subject would just get us one step closer to understanding the grander scheme of the cosmos.
